    List of Ingredients


    • 1 CUP CRISCO SHORTENING
    • 1 CUP SUGAR
    • 3 OUNCE CREAM CHEESE SOFTENED
    • 1 EGG
    • 1 TEASPOON ALMOND EXTRACT
    • 1 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
    • 1/2 TEASPOOON SALT
    • 1/4 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
    • 1 CUP FINELY CHOPPED NUTS
    • FROSTING:
    • 1 TABLESPOON BUTTER
    • 1 TABLESPOON MILK
    • 1 CUP POWDERED SUGAR


    Instructions


    1. PREHEATOVEN TO 350°.
    2. BEAT SHORTENING, SUGAR, CREAM CHEESE, EGG AND ALMOND EXTRACT IN A LARGE BOWL, MIXING WELL
    3. IN ANOTHER BOWL, COMBINE FLOUR, SALT, AND BAKING SODA MIXING WELL. STIR FLOUR MIXTURE INTO SHORTENING MIXTURE UNTIL WELL BLENDED. REFRIGERATE FOR 1 HOUR
    4. FORM THE DOUGH INTO 1" BALLS AND ROLL IN NUTS. PLACE ON AN UNGREASED COOKIE SHEET AND FLATTEN WITH THE BOTTOM OF A SMALL GLASS.
    5. BAKE FOR 10 TO 12 MINUTES. REMOVE FROM OVEN AND TRANSFER COOKIES TO A WIRE RACK AND LET COOL.
    6. FROSTING:
    7. MELT BUTTER IN A SMALL SAUCEPAN OVER LOW HEAT, REMOVE FROM HEAT, ADD MILK AND 1 CUP SUGAR AND MIX WELL. FROST COOKIES WHEN COOLED.
