CREAM CHEESE COOKIES
List of Ingredients
- 1 CUP CRISCO SHORTENING
- 1 CUP SUGAR
- 3 OUNCE CREAM CHEESE SOFTENED
- 1 EGG
- 1 TEASPOON ALMOND EXTRACT
- 1 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
- 1/2 TEASPOOON SALT
- 1/4 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
- 1 CUP FINELY CHOPPED NUTS
- FROSTING:
- 1 TABLESPOON BUTTER
- 1 TABLESPOON MILK
- 1 CUP POWDERED SUGAR
Instructions
- PREHEATOVEN TO 350°.
- BEAT SHORTENING, SUGAR, CREAM CHEESE, EGG AND ALMOND EXTRACT IN A LARGE BOWL, MIXING WELL
- IN ANOTHER BOWL, COMBINE FLOUR, SALT, AND BAKING SODA MIXING WELL. STIR FLOUR MIXTURE INTO SHORTENING MIXTURE UNTIL WELL BLENDED. REFRIGERATE FOR 1 HOUR
- FORM THE DOUGH INTO 1" BALLS AND ROLL IN NUTS. PLACE ON AN UNGREASED COOKIE SHEET AND FLATTEN WITH THE BOTTOM OF A SMALL GLASS.
- BAKE FOR 10 TO 12 MINUTES. REMOVE FROM OVEN AND TRANSFER COOKIES TO A WIRE RACK AND LET COOL.
- FROSTING:
- MELT BUTTER IN A SMALL SAUCEPAN OVER LOW HEAT, REMOVE FROM HEAT, ADD MILK AND 1 CUP SUGAR AND MIX WELL. FROST COOKIES WHEN COOLED.
