SAVORY ROASTED TURKEY
THIS RECIPE COMES FROM MC CORMICK'S SEASONINGS, A PAMPLET WHICH COMES OUT EVERY YEAR FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
List of Ingredients
- 1 TABLESLPOON MC CORMICK'S ITALING SEASONING
- 2 TEASPOON ALL SEASON SALT
- 1 TEASPOON DRY GROUND MUSTARD
- 1 TEASPOON GARLIC POWDER
- 1/2 TEASPOON BLACK PEPPER
- 12 LB FRESH OR FROZEN TURKEY, THAWED
- 2 BAY LEAVES
- 2 STALKS CELERY
- 1 ONION QUARTEREDD
- 1 SMALL ORANGE QUARTERED
- 1 TO 2 TABLESPOONS OLIVE OIL
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 325°.
- COMBINE THE FIRST 5 INGREDIENTS AND SET ASIDE.
- WASH TURKEY AND REMOVE GIBLETS. PLACE TURKEY ON A RACK IN A SHALLOW BAKING PAN.
- SPRINKLE WITH 2 TEASPOONS OF SEASONING MIXTURE INSIDE THE TURKEY. STUFF WITH BAY LEAVES, CELERY STALKS, ONION AND ORANGE INSIDE THE TURKEY.
- RUB OIL AND REMAINING SEASONING MIXTURE OVER ENTIRE SURFACE OF TURKEY. LOOSELY TENT WITH FOIL.
- BAKE 3 1/2 TO 4 HOURS OR UNTIL MEAT THERMOMETER READS 180° IN THIGH.
- BASTE SEVERAL TIMES WITH PAN JUICES. REMOVE FOIL DURING THE LAST 30 MINUTES OF COOKING.
- SERVES 10 TO 12.
