- IN A SMALL MIXING BOWL COMBINE BUTTER AND SHORTENING.
IN A LARGE BOWL COMBINE REMAINING COOKIE INGREDIENTS. USING A PASTRY BLENDER OR A FOOD PROCESSOR CUT IN SHORTENING MIXTURE INTO FLOUR MIXTURE TILL YOU REACH A FINE MEAL. STORE IN AN AIRTIGHT CONTAINER OR JAR IN REFRIGERATOR TILL TIME TO USE.
- COMBINE 2 CUPS OF COOKIE MIX WITH 2/3 CUPS SUGAR
1 TEASPOON OF VANILLA
2 TABLESLPOONS MILK
1 EGG
- ROLL OUT DOUGH ON FLOURED SURFACE WITH FLOURED ROLLING PIN TO 1/8" THICKNESS. CUT SHAPES AND BAKE IN A PREHEATED 400° OVEN ON A LIGHTLY GREASED COOKIE SHEET FOR 5 TO 8 MINUTES, OR UNTIL LIGHTLY BROWNED ON EDGES.
- SPRINKLE WITH COLORED SUGAR BEFORE BAKING IF DESIRED OR FROST AND DECORATE WHEN COOLED.
- 3 1/2 DOZEN COOKIES
- COLORED SUGARS:
1/4 CUP SUGAR
2 DROPS FOOD COLORING, YOUR CHOICE
COMBINE SUGAR WITH 2 TO 3 DROPS OF FOOD COLORING IN A JAR WITH A LID. COVER TIGHTLY AND SHAKE TILL BLENDED.
