    List of Ingredients


    • 1 TEASPOON VEGETABLE OIL
    • 1 MEDIUM ONION CHOPPED
    • /2 MEDIUM CARROT DICED
    • 1 GARLIC CLOVE MINCED
    • 8 OUNCES GROUND BEEF
    • 1 1/4 TABLESPOONS MILK OR HOT CHILI POWDER
    • 1 TEASPOON GROUND CUMIN
    • 1 CUP CANNED WHOLE ITALIAN TOMATOES COARSELY CHOPPED
    • 1/2 TEASPOON DRIED OREGANO
    • 1 DASH GROUND CLOVES
    • 1 DASH GROUND RED PEPPER
    • 2 OUNCES CANNED BLACK BEANS, RINSED AND DRAINED


    Instructions


    1. IN A LARGE NONSTICK SAUCEPAN, HEAT OIL, ADD ONIONS AND CARROTS. COOK OVER MEDIUM HEAT, STIRRING FREQUENTLY, 3 TO 5 MINUTES OR UNTIL ONIONS ARE SOFTENED. ADD GARLIC, STIRRING FREQUENTLY FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES OR UNTIL ONIONS ARE GOLDEN BROWN.
    2. ADD BEEF, CHILI POWDER AND CUMIN TO ONION MIXTURE. COOK GROUND BEEF STIRRING TO BREAK UP ABOUT 4 TO 5 MINUTES OR UNTIL NO LONGER PINK.
    3. ADD TOMATOES WITH JUICE, OREGANO, CLOVES AND PEPPER, BRING MIXTURE TO A BOIL.
    4. REDUCE HEAT TO LOW, SIMMER 18 TO 20 MINUTES OR UNTIL MIXTURE IS THICKENED. STIR IN BEANS, SIMMER 2 TO 3 MINUTES OR UNTIL BEANS ARE HEATED.
    5. DIVIDE EVENLY AMONG PLATES.


    6. YOU CAN SERVE THIS OVER COOKED RICE IF YOU LIKE.
