    • 3 TABLESPOONS BUTTER
    • 2/3 CUP BROWN SUGAR, PACKED
    • 2 CUPS SIFTED FLOUR, MEASURE AFTER SIFTING
    • 3 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
    • 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
    • 1 TEASPOON CINNAMON
    • 1 EGG
    • 1 CUP MILK
    • 2 TABLESPOONS MELTED SHORTENING
    • 1 CUP CHOPPED GRANNY SMITH APPLES


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 400°.GREASE MUFFIN PANS AND PLACE 1/2 TEASPOON OF BUTTER AND 1 TEASPOON BROWN SUGAR IN EACH CUP. SET ASIDE.
    2. SIFT FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, SALT AND CINNAMON TOGETHER IN A BOWL.
    3. BEAT EGG ADD MILK, SHORTENING AND REMAINING 1/2 CUP BROWN SUGAR. ADD TO SIFTED DRY INGREDIENTS, STIRRING ONLY UNTIL DRY INGREDIENTS ARE MOISTENED, FOLD IN APPLES.
    4. FILL PREPARED MUFFIN PANS 3/4 FULL AND BAKE FOR 20 MINUTES.
    5. 18 MUFFINS
