LEMON BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE
List of Ingredients
- 1 CUP CRISCO SHORTENING
- 1/2 CUP BUTTER OR MARGARINE
- 2 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
- 4 EGGS
- 3 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
- 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
- 1/2 TESPOON BAKING SODA
- 1 CUP BUTTERMILK
- 1 TEASPOON LEMON EXTRACT
- 2 TEASPOONS GRATED LEMON RIND, OPTIONAL
Instructions
- BEAT THE SHORTENING, BUTTER AND SUGAR UNTIL CREAMY AND FLUFFY. ADD EGGS ONE AT A TIME BEATING WELL BETWEEN EACH ADDITION.
- MIX FLOUR WITH SALT,AND BAKING SODA.
MIX BUTTERMILK WITH LEMON EXTRACT.
- ALTERNATE THE FLOUR MIXTURE WITH THE BUTTERMILK MIX UNTIL COMBINE.
- GREASE AND FLOUR A TUBE CAKE PAN. POUR MIXTURE INTO PREPARED PAN.
- BAKE IN A PREHEATED 325° OVEN FOR 75 MINUTES. OR UNTIL TESTER INSERTED IN MIDDLE COMES OUT CLEAN.
