    LEMON BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 CUP CRISCO SHORTENING
    • 1/2 CUP BUTTER OR MARGARINE
    • 2 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
    • 4 EGGS
    • 3 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
    • 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
    • 1/2 TESPOON BAKING SODA
    • 1 CUP BUTTERMILK
    • 1 TEASPOON LEMON EXTRACT
    • 2 TEASPOONS GRATED LEMON RIND, OPTIONAL


    Instructions


    1. BEAT THE SHORTENING, BUTTER AND SUGAR UNTIL CREAMY AND FLUFFY. ADD EGGS ONE AT A TIME BEATING WELL BETWEEN EACH ADDITION.
    2. MIX FLOUR WITH SALT,AND BAKING SODA.
      MIX BUTTERMILK WITH LEMON EXTRACT.
    3. ALTERNATE THE FLOUR MIXTURE WITH THE BUTTERMILK MIX UNTIL COMBINE.
    4. GREASE AND FLOUR A TUBE CAKE PAN. POUR MIXTURE INTO PREPARED PAN.
    5. BAKE IN A PREHEATED 325° OVEN FOR 75 MINUTES. OR UNTIL TESTER INSERTED IN MIDDLE COMES OUT CLEAN.
