MOIST AND FLAVORFUL POUND CAKE
List of Ingredients
- 1/2 CUP SHORTENING
- 1 CUP BUTTER
- 2 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
- 2 TEASPOONS EXTRACT ( VANILLA, ALMOND LEMON ETC.)
- 5 EGGS
- 1 CUP 1/2 AND 1/2
- 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER
- 3 CUPS CAKE FLOUR
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 300°. LIGHTLY GREASE AND FLOUR 9 OR 10" BUNDT PAN. SET ASIDE
- CREAM SHORTENING, BUTTER AND SUGAR TILL LIGHT AND FLUFFY. ADD EGGS ONE AT A TIME, BEATING WELL AFTER EACH ONE.
- BEAT IN EXTRACT OF YOUR CHOICE.
- IN A BOWL COMBINE THE BAKING POWDER AND CAKE FLOUR. ALTERNATELY STIR IN THE FLOUR MIXTURE WITH THE MILK INTO CREAMED MIXTURE, STARTING AND ENDING WITH FLOUR.
- POUR BATTER INTO PREPARED PAN AND BAKE FOR 1 TO 1 1/2 HOURS OR UNTIL CAKE TESTER COMES OUT CLEAN.
- NOTE: IF USING LEMON EXTRACT, ADD 1 TEASPOON FRESHLY GRATED LEMON RIND FOR EXTRA FLAVOR.
IF USING ALMOND EXTRACT, ADD 1 TEASPOON FINELY GROUND ALMONDS. ( PLACE ALMONDS IN A FOOD PROCESSOR AND PROCESS UNTIL FINELY GROUND)
