CINNAMON SWIRL QUICK BREAD
List of Ingredients
- 1/2 CUP CRISCO SHORTENING
- 1 CUP SUGAR
- 3 EGGS
- 1 TEASPOON VANILLA
- 1 CUP SOUR CREAM
- 1/4 CUP 1/2 AND 1/2 OR MILK
- 1 1/2 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
- 1 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
- 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
- 1/4 CUP SUGAR
- 2 TEASPOONS CINNAMON
- 1 1/2 TEASPOONS SHREDDED ORANGE RIND
- 2 CUPS SIFTED FLOUR, SIFT FIRST, THEN MEASURE
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°.
- CREAM CRISCO AND SUGAR TILL LIGHT AND FLUFFY, BEAT IN EGGS AND VANILLA, BLEND IN SOUR CREAM AND 1/2 AND 1/2 OR MILK.
- COMBINE FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, BAKING SODA AND SALT. ADD TO CREAMED MIXTURE AND BLEND.
- SPREAD HALF OF THE BATTER IN A LIGHTLY GREASED LOAF PAN.
- COMBINE SUGAR, CINNAMON AND ORANGE PEEL. SRINKLE ALL BUT 1 TABLESPOON OVER BATTER IN LOAF PAN. TOP WITH REMAINING BATTER AND CUT THROUGH WITH A KNIFE OR METAL SPATULA TO MAKE SWIRLS IN BATTER. SPRINKLE TOP WITH REMAINING 1 TABLESPOON OF SUGAR MIX.
- BAKE 45 TO 50 MINUTES. REMOVE FROM OVEN AND LET SIT FOR 10 MINUTES BEFORE REMOVING FROM PAN. REMOVE LOAF TO A WIRE RACK TO COOL COMPLETELY.
