APPLE OATMEAL SCONES
List of Ingredients
- 1 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
- 1 CUP OLD FASHIONED ROLLED OATS
- 1/3 CUP FINELY PACKED DARK BROWN SUGAR
- 2 1/2 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
- 1/2 TEASPOON FINE SEAL SALT
- 1/2 CUP SWEET CHILLED BUTTER
- 1 LARGE EGGS
- 1/4 CUP HALF AND HALF
- 2 TABLESPOONS MOLASSES
- 1 TEASPOON PURE VANILLA EXTRACT
- 3/4 CUPS DICED UNPEELED APPLES
- 2/3 CUPS CHOPPED PITTED DATES OR CUT UP DRIED APRICOTS
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 375°. GREAST OR BUTTER A REGULAR BAKING SHEET OR A NON STICK BAKING SHEET OR YOU CAN USE PARACHMENT PAPER.
- IN A FOOD PROCESSOR WHISK TOGETHER THE FLOUR, OATS, SUGAR, BAKING POWDER AND SALT. CUT IN THE BUTTER UNTIL MIXTURE RESEMBLES COARSE CRUMBS.
- IN ANOTHER BOWL, WHISK TOGETHER THE EGG, HALF AND HALF, MOLASSES AND VANILLA. ADD THE MILK MIXTURE TO THE FLOUR AND PULSE TO COMBINE. THE DOUGH WILL BE VERY STICKY. STIR IN THE APPLES AND DATES.
- SPREAD THE DOUGH INTO AN 8" CIRCLE ON PREPARED BAKING SHEET AND WITH A KNIFE CUT INTO 8 WEDGES OR PULL OFF AS MUCH DOUGH AS YOU LIKE PLACE ON SHEET AND SLIGHTLY FLATTEN OUT. BRUSH WITH HALF AND HALF AND SPRINKLE WITH SUGAR. BAKE 22 TO 27 MINUTES. COOL ON A WIRE RACK AND SERVE WITH BUTTER OR LEMON CURD.
