    BASIC SCONES


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 CUPS FLOUR
    • 2 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
    • 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
    • 1/4 CUP SUGAR
    • 1/2 CUP RAISINS
    • 4 TABLESPOONS BUTTER FLAVORED SHORTENING


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 425°.
    2. MIX FLOUR, BAKING POWDER AND SALT IN A BOWL. CUT IN SHORTENING WITH YOUR FINGERS UNTIL MIXTURE RESEMBLES COARSE CRUMBS. ADD SUGAR AND RAISINS. MIXING WELL. STIR IN ENOUGH MILK TO FORM A STIFF DOUGH. ( YOU MIGHT HAVE TO ADD A BIT MORE THAN A 1/4 CUP).
    3. ROLL OUT TO 3/4" THICK. CUT WITH A 2" BISCUIT CUTTER. BAKE ON A GREASED COOKIE SHEET 10 MINUTES OR UNTIL PUFFED AND LIGHTLY BROWNED.
    4. 12 TO 16 SCONES
