    List of Ingredients


    • 8 OUNCES OF SELF RISING FLOUR
    • 1 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER
    • 4 HEAPING TABLESPOONS BAN
    • 1 TABLESPOON SUGAR
    • PINCH OF SALT
    • 1 1/2 OUNCES SOFTENED BUTTER OR MARGARINE
    • 1 EGG
    • MILK


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°.
    2. IN A BOWL, SIFT FLOUR, SALT AND BAKING POWDER . ADD BRAN AND SUGAR AND MIX WELL. RUB IN BUTTER OR MARGARINE WITH FINGERS OR A PASTRY BLENDER UNTIL COARSE CRUMBS FORM. PLACE EGG IN A MEASURING CUP AND ADD ENOUGH MILK TO MEASURE 7 OUNCES, WHISK TOGETHER, ADD TO BOWL AND MIX TO A SOFT SLIGHTLY MOIST DOUGH.
    3. DIVIDE MIXTURE INTO TWO PARTS AND WITH FLOURED HANDS PAT OUT EACH HALF INTO A ROUND CIRCLE 1/2 TO 3/4" THICK. CUT EACH CIRCLE INTO QUARTERS AND PLACE ON A FLOURED BAKING SHEET. BAKE APPROXIMATELY 12 TO 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL SET. ( DO NOT OVER BAKE, SCONES WILL HARDEN UP).
    4. THESE CAN BE WRAPPED UP AND FROZEN AND HEATED UP IN A MICROWAVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 TO 30 SECONDS .

    IF YOU LIKE, YOU CAN ADD RAISINS, DRIED CRANBERRIES AND NUTS TO THIS MIXTURE IF YOU LIKE.
