    List of Ingredients


    • 3 CUPS FLOUR
    • 1/3 CUP SUGAR
    • 2/12 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
    • 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
    • 3/4 CUP BUTTER OR MARGARINE1 TEASPOON ORANGE ZEST
    • 1 CUP BUTTERMILK
    • 1 CUP DRIED CRANBERRIES
    • 2 TABLESPOONS SUGAR
    • 1/4 TEASPOON CINNAMON
    • 1 TABLESPOON MILK OR HEAVY CREAM


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 400°.
    2. COMBINE 2 TABLESPOONS SUGAR, 1/4 TEASPOON CINNAMON AND 1 TABLESPOON MILK OR CREAM IN A BOWL TILL BLENDED SET ASIDE FOR BRUSHING TOPS OF SCONES.
    3. IN A LARGE BOWL, COMBINE THE FLOUR, SUGAR, BAKING POWDER, BAKING SODA UNTIL WELL BLENDED. ADD BUTTER OR MARGARINE AND ORANGE ZEST UNTIL MIXTURE RESEMBLES CRUMBS. ( WORK IN WITH YOUR FINGERS OR WITH A PASTRY BLENDER) ADD THE BUTTERMILK AND CRANBERRIES AND MIX UNTIL DRY INGREDIENTS ARE MOISTENED.
    4. GATHER DOUGH INTO A BALL AND KNEAD LIGHTLY APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 12 TIMES ON A LIGHTLY FLOURED SURFACE. DIVIDE DOUGH INTO 4 PIECES. PAT EACH SECTION INTO A 1/2 TO 3/4 THICK CIRCLE. CUT EACH CIRCLE INTO 6 WEDGES. TRANSFER TO A BAKING SHEET. BRUSH SCONES WITH SUGAR, CINNAMON CREAM MIXTURE.
    5. BAKE FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 TO 20 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN AND BAKED THROUGH.
