    IRISH SODA SCONES


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 POUND FLOUR
    • 1 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
    • 1 TEEASPOON CREAM OF TARTAR
    • 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
    • 1TABLESPOON SWEET COLD BUTTER
    • 1 CUP BUTTERMILK


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°.
    2. SIFT TOGETHER THE FLOUR, BAKING SODA, CREAM OF TARTAR AND SALT INTO A LARGE BOWL. CUT IN BUTTER WITH YOUR FINGERS UNTIL COARSE CRUMBS FORM. ADD THE BUTTERMILK A LITTLE AT A TIME TO MAKE A STIFF DOUGH.
    3. KNEAD ON A LIGHTLY FLOURED SURFACE FOR 2 OR 3 MINUTES. ROLL OUT TO 1/2" THICK ON FLOURED SURFACE. CUT WITH A 3" BISCUIT CUTTER AND PLACE ON A COOKIE SHEET.
    4. BAKE 15 MINUTES. WHEN BROWN ON TOP, TURN AND BROWN THE OTHER SIDE.
    5. 6 TO 8 SCONES
