ORANGE PECAN SCONES
List of Ingredients
- 3 CUPS FLOUR
- 1 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
- 1 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER
- 2 TABLESPOONS GRATED ORANGE PEEL
- 1/2 CUP SUGAR
- 1 STICK COLD SWEET BUTTER
- 1/2 CUP CHOPPED PECANS
- 1 1/2 CUPS BUTTERMILK
- 1 EGG FOR WASH
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 425°.
- IN A FOOD PROCESSOR, PULSE THE FLOUR, BAKING SODA, BAKING POWDER, ORANGE PEEL AND SUGAR UNTIL MIXED. ADD CHILLED BUTTER AND PROCESS UNTIL CRUMBLY. ADD PECANS AND PULSE TWO OR THREE TIMES, JUST UNTIL COMBINED..
- TURN OUT INTO A LARGE BOWL AND STIR IN BUTTERMILK INTO MIXTURE. KNEAD ON FLOURED SURFACE AND PAT FLAT UNTIL 1" THICK. CUT WITH A COOKIE CUTTER AND PLACE ON A UNGREASED COOKIE SHEET. BRUSH WITH EGG WASH.
- BAKE APPROXIMATELY 12 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN. DO NOT OVER BAKE.
