    STARBUCK'S DATE SCONES


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
    • 1/2 CUP WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR
    • 1/4 CUP BRAN
    • 2 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
    • 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
    • 1 TEASPOON SALT
    • 2 TEASPOONS CINNAMON
    • 1/4 CUP BROWN SUGAR
    • 1/2 CUP SWEET BUTTER, CHILLED
    • 1 LARGE EGG
    • 2/3 CUP BUTTERMILK
    • 2/3 CUP CHOPPED DATES


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 350°.
    2. COMBINE THE FLOUR, WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, BRAN, BAKING POWDER, BAKING SODA, SALT CINNAMON AND THE BROWN SUGAR IN A LARGE DEEP BOWL. CUT IN THE BUTTER WITH YOUR FINGERS OR WITH A PASTRY CUTTER UNTIL MIXTURE RESEMBLES COARSE CRUMBS. ( YOU CAN DO THIS IN A FOOD PROCESSOR IS YOU LIKE). ADD THE EGG, BUTTERMILK AND DATES MIXING JUST UNTIL COMBINED. ( DO NOT OVER WORK THE DOUGH).IF THE DOUGH SEEMS TOO STICKY TO WORK WITH ADD A COUPLE TABLESPOONS FLOUR.
    3. SHAPE THE DOUGH INTO A RECTANGLE ABOUT 1" THICK ON A LIGHTLY FLOURED SURFACE. CUT INTO 12 TRIANGLES OR A 2" FLOURED BISCUIT CUTTER.
    4. PLACE ON AN UNGREASED BAKING SHEET AND BAKE FOR 25 MINUTES, OR UNTIL PUFFED AND LIGHTLY GOLDEN. COOL ON WIRE RACK.
