Stovetop Potpourri
List of Ingredients
8 cinnamon sticks (each 3 inches long), broken in half
4 whole nutmegs
2 tablespoons whole allspice
1 tablespoon whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon dried orange peel (from a jar)
the dry spice mixture keeps indefinitely in a tightly covered jar.
Mix all ingredients. Store airtight at room temperature.
Makes about 3/4 cup potpourri
To use: add about 3 tablespoons of the potpourri to 2 cups simmering water in a small saucepan over low heat. Frangrance lasts about 2 hours; add more water if needed.
