    Basic Crocked Chicken

    Recipe Introduction

    I used a 3 lb fryer...and it turned out wonderful cooked this way... You do not add any liquid with the chicken

    List of Ingredients

    1 (2-1/2 to 3-1/2 lb) whole chicken
    lemon wedge (optional)
    1 tsp oregano
    1 tsp thyme
    1 tsp sage
    salt & pepper
    2 Tbsp butter softened

    Recipe

    Remove giblets from interior of chicken; remove fat pads of either side of the opening to interior of chicken
    Wash chicken in cold water; shake off excess water
    Place lemon wedge and bay leaf (Optional) in interior of chicken
    Prepare seasoned butter by adding seasonings to softened butter.
    Slide finger under breast skin and rub seasoned butter under and over skin by patting on top.
    Place breast side up in crockpot (Sprinkle with Lawry's salt) for color and taste.
    Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8-1/2 hours
    Serve as main dish with veggies and salad or I use this recipe for Chicken Enchiladas.
    Note: If you plan to serve chicken pieces rather than cutting up and using in other dishes, sprinkle top of chicken with seasoned salt, like Lawry's, to give more color
