    Ingredients

    4 - Egg whites
    1/2 tsp - Cream of tarter
    Pinch of salt
    1 - Cup sugar
    1/4 tsp - Anise seeds
    Red and Green colored sugars

    Recipe



    Procedure

    Heat oven to 250 degrees. Line baking sheet with foil.
    With electric mixer set at medium speed, beat the egg whites with cream of tarter and salt until they hold soft peaks.
    Increase speed to high and beat in the sugar gradually.
    Continue beating until the whites hold stiff peaks.
    Beat in the anise seeds.
    Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls about 2" apart onto baking sheets.
    Sprinkle with colored sugars.
    Bake until firm to the touch, 40 to 45 minutes.
    Centers will still be soft. Let stand about 30 seconds on baking sheets before removing.
