    Glazed lemon bread

    1/3 C. butter, melted
    1 C. sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
    1 1/2 C. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 C. milk
    1 Tbsp. grated lemon peel
    1/2 C. chopped nuts

    1/4 C. sugar
    3 Tbsp. lemon juice

    Blend the butter and 1 C. sugar; beat in eggs one at a time. Add extract. Sift together the dry ingredients and add alternately with the milk. Blend just to mix. Fold in lemon peel and nuts.
    Pour into a large greased and floured glass bread pan. Bake at 325 about 70 minutes, or until loaf tests done in the center. (If using a metal bread pan, increase temp. to 350.)

    Mix lemon juice and 1/4 C. sugar; immediately spoon over hot loaf. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.
    Do not cut for 24 hours (it will slice easily then). Bread can be frozen.

    You could also eliminate the nuts and substitute poppyseeds.
