    Brownie Mixture:
    1/2 cup butter or margarine
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon baking powder

    Cream Cheese Mixture:
    4 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
    1 Tablespoon butter or margarine at room temperature
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 egg
    1 Tablespoon all purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour an 8 inch square pan.

    To make the cream cheese mixture, beat cream cheese and 1 tablespoon of butter or margarine in medium bowl until light and fluffy. Add 1/4 cup sugar and beat until well blended. Beat in egg, 1 tablespoon of flour and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla; set aside.

    In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Sift together 1/3 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 cup flour, salt, and baking powder, and beat into the egg mixture until well combined.

    Spread about 2/3 of chocolate batter into prepared greased and floured pan. Pour cream cheese mixture evenly over the chocolate brownie mixture. Spoon the remaining chocolate mixture over the cream cheese mixture. Using the tip of knife, gently swirl through batter until marbled. Bake brownies they test done, about 35 minutes. Cool brownies in pan on rack, and cut into squares.
