    Here is what Jim does... the recipe has evolved over the years from the 1946 Salinas cookbook that my mother originally used. I think I've been raised on this stuff. But here it is, straight from Jim's mouth:

    Marinade for Beef...Sirloin Tips are suggested

    1/4 cup Jack Daniels
    1/4 cup sugar
    about 2 T crushed garlic
    1 t ground ginger
    3/4 cup soy sauce.
    Marinate overnight, and grill. Wonderful stuff!
