Almond Biscotti with Anise
List of Ingredients
- 1 cup whole almonds
- 1 Tbsp. anise seeds
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. anise extract or 1 Tbsp. anise liqueur
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Roast almonds on cookie sheet at 325 degrees F for 10 minutes.
- Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and almonds and anise seed.
- Whisk eggs and add anise flavoring, then add to flour mixture.
- Divide dough in half.
- Shape dough into two 15" oblong logs.
- Place on greased cookie sheet, 3" apart.
- Bake 40 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Cool on rack for 10 min.
- Transfer baked ovals to a cutting board and slice with a serrated knife in long diagonal slices 1/2 inch thick.
- Place sliced biscottis on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 15 minutes, turning once and rotating cookie sheets.
- Cool on wire racks and store in a tightly sealed container to maintain crispness.
