    Jennifer's Baking Powder Biscuits

    Source of Recipe

    Jennifer Bussey & Ann Hewitt

    Recipe Introduction

    Origins Unknown

    List of Ingredients

3/4 cup milk substitute with 1 T. vinegar
2 cups sifted gf flour (Beth's all-purpose gf flour recommended & filed under Flour Blends)
    2 tsp. gf baking powder
    4 tablespoons Spectrum shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt

    Recipe

    Mix milk substitute and vinegar.

    Set aside.

Sift flour, baking powder and salt.

Cut in shortening or butter to make course crumbs. (This is where I use my hands by rubbing the shortening into the flour.)

Add soured milk sub gradually, stirring until soft dough is formed.

Turn out on slightly floured board and lightly "knead" for 30 seconds, enough to shape.

I don't roll my biscuits, I form them with my hands sort of like patting out hamburger patties.

Then I put them on a lightly greased pan and baked at 350 degrees until golden.
