    Recipe Introduction

Everything you need for traditional baking powder biscuits is already in the mix. Simply add a few other ingredients and Voila! moist, dense, delicious baking powder biscuits.

    List of Ingredients

    1/4 cup honey
    4 tbsp cf margarine
1 package Miss Roben's White Sandwich Bread Mix
    1/2 c almond milk
    1/2 c water
    1 tbsp lemon juice

    Recipe

Cream honey and margarine together. Add 1/2 the package of bread mix (set yeast packet aside for another day). Blend until it makes crumbles like corn meals or slightly larger.

Combine the almond milk, water and lemon juice in a bottle and shake to blend. Most almond milk has guar gum so it will not curdle like soy milk but this still works to replace buttermilk in the traditional recipes.

Pour 1/2 the almond milk in to the blended ingredients. Stir to mix. Add 1/4 of the remaining dry mix and 1/4 of the remaining milk. Stir to blend. Add last of mix then add small amounts of the remainder of almond milk until you have the right consistency. The dough should hold together, be almost workable although slightly sticky, but not runny or pourable. You may not need the whole quanity of the almond milk.

After mixing, glop onto a prepared baking sheet or a greased glass baking pan.

Bake 350 for 10 - 15 minutes. They will burn quickly once cooked so watch carefully.

Makes 9 large biscuits or 1-9 x 9 pan. You could also use english muffin rings and make hamburger-like buns. Be sure to cool sufficiently before cutting or they are crumbly like traditional baking powder biscuits.
