I got this from a friend (Virginia Wade) many years ago. It is much better than you might think, try them. Servings 24
List of Ingredients
1 package active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk, scalded
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup 100% brand cereal
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flourRecipe
Soften active dry yeast in warm water. Set aside
In large bowl combine sugar shortening, and salt: stir in hot milk after cooling to lukewarm
Add softened yeast, egg, and bran cereal; stir till cereal is moistened
Add 2 cups of the flour and beat well.
Gradually add remaining flour or enough to make soft dough.
Cover let rise in a warm place till double about 1 1/2 hour.
Punch down
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough t 1/4 inch thick. Cut rounds of dough with a 1 2/4 inch cutter. Shape in small balls (3 should half fill a greased muffin cup.
Brush each with melted butter
Cover let rise double (about 30 minutes)
Bake at 400 for about 10 to 12 minutes. Serve hot.
