    4 McIntosh Apples, peeled, cored and diced (4 cups)
    1/2 cup plus 1 1/2 reaspoons sugar
    4 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    pinch ground cloves
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    2 double piecrusts
    1 tablespoon butter
    1 tablespoon milk

    Hear oven to 400 in a large bowl, combine apple pieces 1/2 of the sugar, the cornstarch, 1/4 teaspoon of the cinnamon, cloves, and lemon juice. Toss to combine set aside.
    Prepare pie crust add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Divide into 6 balls. Fill 3 into 5 inch pie plates.
    Divide apple mixture evenly among pie plates, about a full 1 cup per pie plate. Cut butter into 3 pieces and place 1 piece on top of filling in each dish. Top with rolled out dough. Crimp edges to seal. Cut a few vent holes in each. Brush all crusts with milk and sprinkle each with 1/2 teaspoon sugar.
    Bake pies at 400 for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden. Cool on racks for 20 minutes before serving.

    For 9 inch pie use all mixture
