APPLESAUCE CRUMB PIE
List of Ingredients
2 cups unsweetened applesauce
1 cup light brown sugar
3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 cup raisins
4 eggs
CRUMB TOPPING:
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
ADDITIONAL:
1 - 9-inch unbaked pie shell with high fluted edge
Cool Whip or Whipped Cream to garnish top of pie slices
Recipe
For Filling:
Place the applesauce and brown sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; add 3 Tbsp. of butter or margarine and stir until melted. Stir in raisins. Cool.
In a small mixing bowl, beat the eggs and add to the applesauce mixture.
Pour into the unbaked pie shell. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven.
CRUMB TOPPING:
Blend the flour, sugar and spices and cut in the 2 Tbsp. of butter or margarine until crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over the top of the pie.
BAKE: At 375 for another 25 minutes. (Until the top and
crust are a nice golden brown.
Serve with a small amount of Cool Whip on the pie slices.
