    Overnight Coffee Cake

    This is a four star coffee cake.


    List of Ingredients


    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 2/3 cup margarine
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • Topping:
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/4 cup chopped nuts
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 3/4 cup chopped dates*


    Instructions


    1. Cream sugars and margarine. Add eggs and beat.
    2. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk.
    3. Pour into greased and floured 13 x 9-inch pan.
    4. Mix together topping ingredients.
    5. Sprinkle on top of batter. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight. Uncover and bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Makes 15 to 20 servings.


    Final Comments


    *Omit, if desired, and increase nuts and brown sugar to 1/2 cup each.
