No Boil Mexican Lasagna

1 c. onion, chopped
1 package taco seasoning packet
1/2 c. water
1 pound ground venison or lean ground beef
1 14.5 oz. cans stewed tomatoes
1 15 oz. can refried black beans
2 c. cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 pound lasagna noddles
2 c. cottage cheese, small curds
1 c. shredded mozzarella cheeseRecipe
Brown meat and onion. Drain fat. Stir in taco seasoning and 1/2 c. water, tomatoes and beans. Bring to a boil. Stir, reduce heat, cover and simmer 10 minutes. In a 9x13 inch baking pan, layer 1/3 of the meat sauce, 1/2 uncooked lasagna noodle, 1/2 cottage cheese, 1/2 cheddar cheese. Repeat layers, ending with sauce. Cover tightly with foil. Bake 1 hour at 375 degrees until noodles are tender. uncover and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Let stand 10 minutes before serving
