Mushroom-Cheese Appetizers
This recipe might have come from and ad for Bisquick but that is only a guess. It has been around for many years.
List of Ingredients
- 2 cups of Bisquick baking mix
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/4 lb. bulk pork sausage, cooked and drained
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions (including tops)
- 3/4 cup mayo
- 35 medium mushrooms (about 1 lb.)
- 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (about 8 oz)
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350º.
- Grease oblong pan, 13x9x2 inches.
- Mix baking mix and water until soft dough forms; beat vigorously 20 storkes. Press dough in bottom of pan with floured hands.
- Mix sausage, onions and mayonnaise.
- Remove stems from mushrooms. Finely chop stems: stir into sausage mixture. Fill mushroom caps with sausage mixture. Place mushrooms in rows on dough in pan: sprinlke with cheese.
- Cover pan loosely with aluminum foil. Bake 20 min. remove foil AND BAKE until cheese is bubbly, 5 to 10 min. more. Let stand 15 min.; cut into pieces. Makes 35 pieces.
