2 cups packed brown sugar
3/4 cup cocoa
4 cups cold water
4 teaspoons pure vanilla, divided
1/2 (10-ounce) package miniature marshmallows
1 box German chocolate cake mix and ingredients as called for on package
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Fresh whipped cream
Recipe
In a 9- x 13-inch baking dish, combine brown sugar and cocoa, stirring to blend. Add water and 2 teaspoons vanilla; mix well. Sprinkle marshmallows over all. In a separate bowl, mix cake mix according to package directions, adding vanilla. Pour cake batter over cocoa mix. Do not stir. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Carefully place in a preheated 350-degree oven. Bake about 45 minutes, until batter is set. Cool 30-45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream. Makes 24 servings.
