My late mother got this recipe from my late godmother back in the 1970's. I love this cake!!
List of Ingredients
Cake:
1 cup sugar
Dash of salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup warm coffee
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 egg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups diced raw apple
Topping:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Recipe
Mix cake ingredients in order given. Put in greased 9" X 13" pan. Sprinkle topping mixture on top and bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes.
Serve with whipped topping.
