    Pastel de Tamale

    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 C. onion, chopped
    • 1 T. oil
    • 1 t. margarine
    • 1/2 lb. ground beef
    • 1 C. canned tomatoes and juice
    • 3/4 C. wh. kernel corn (drained)
    • 1 egg
    • Whole olives (optional)
    • 1/2 t. chili powder
    • 1/2 C. milk
    • 1/2 t. salt (optional)
    • 1/2 C. yellow corn meal
    • 1/2 C. grated cheese


    Instructions


    1. Saute' onion in oil and margarine.

    2. Add ground beef and cook until meat is browned.(Discard excess fat.)

    3. Add tomatoes, juice and corn.(Whole olives may be added.)

    4. Beat egg in bowl.

    5. Add chili powder, milk, salt, and corn meal.

    6. Stir into meat mixture and stir constantly until mixture begins to thicken.

    7. Simmer 15 minutes.

    8. Pour into oiled casserole.

    9. Top with grated cheese.

    10. Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
