    Homemade Bread

    Source of Recipe

    Michael Rodriguez

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 pkg. dry yeast
    • 1 C. sugar
    • 2 C. warm water
    • 4 to 5 C. flour
    • 1/2 t. salt
    • 2/3 C. Crisco (I use 2/3 c. melted margarine instead)

    Instructions

    1. In a large bowl, add yeast, sugar and warm water; mix well.

    2. Add flour and stir.

    3. Add salt and Crisco(or butter).

    4. Stir, add more flour and stir until it gets too hard to stir with a spoon.

    5. Then, using your hands, work the dough well, adding more flour until the dough no longer sticks to your hands.

    6. Form the dough into one big lump in the bowl, and let it rise until it is times its original size. (I cover the bowl with a clean dish towel.)

    7. Then mash the dough down to get the bubbles out.

    8. Prepare two loaf pans with a coat of Crisco (I spray them with PAM.)

    9. Divide the dough into two halves.

    10. Shape them and put them into the pans.

    11. Let the dough rise to the size you like, at least double.

    12. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.

    13. After baking, take the bread out of the pans to cool off.
