6-7 baked croissants, cubed
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup applesauce
3 eggs
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
APPLE MIXTURE
4 large apples, peeled and diced
5 tablespoons butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 ½ teaspoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon lemon juice
ICING
½ cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Add cubed croissants to the baking dish and spread into an even layer. Set aside.
To cook apples: melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg and mix until smooth. Add apples and cook for 5 minutes, stirring often. Mix together cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Once fully incorporated, stir mixture into apples. Stir in lemon juice then remove from heat.
In a medium bowl, whisk together heavy cream, applesauce, eggs, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Spoon apple mixture onto croissant layer and then pour egg mixture evenly over top. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
For icing: Mix together powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla until smooth. Allow bake to cool for 5 minutes then drizzle icing over top
