John's Ham and Bean Soup

List of Ingredients
- 2 qts. cooked Northern Beans (Mrs. Grimes)
- 2 ham hocks (smoked) (ham sub)
- 1 large onion
- 8 small celery stalks
- grated carrots for color
- 4 c. water
- 1-2 cans butter beans
- 1 tsp. crushed thyme
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 large potato---diced small
- salt
- pepper
- lowreys seasoning
- celery salt
- lemon pepper
Instructions
- Boil ham hocks on bone. Then add onion, celery, potato, carrots and seasoning. Cook slowly for 1 hour in covered pan.
- Debone the meat and cut into small pieces. Add remaining ingredients and cook on low for 2-3 hours.
Final Comments
The potato is supposed to help remove some of the gas problems from the beans.
