Recipe Introduction
This recipe dates back to the early 1940's when Louise Perry was in Home Ec. Here kids grew up with this recipe.
List of Ingredients
- 2 cup milk
- 6 Tbsp. oil
- 6 heaping Tbsp. sugar
- 2 heaping tsp. salt
- 3 pkgs. yeast
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in 1 cup luke-warm water.
- Scald milk. Add oil, sugar, and salt.
- Cool to luke- warm.
- Add yeast and mix well.
- Add flour to form stiff dough.
- Knead on floured board until you get tired or until dough is elastic and no longer sticky.
- Let rise until doubled in greased bowl in warm place.
- Punch down. Let rise again.
- Make loaves, rolls, cinnamon rolls, or bunwellos.
- Let rise in pans.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
Final Comments
You can make bunwellows after the dough has rised only once. April's grandmother taught her how to make these back in junior high and high school. April made these homemade cinnamon rolls for Billy's family for Christmas back when we first started dating. Bunwellos can be served with beans.
