    List of Ingredients


    • 1 1/2 cups sugar
    • 5 heaping Tbsp. flour
    • 3 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
    • pinch salt
    • 3 cups milk
    • 3 egg yolks, well beaten
    • 1 tsp. vanilla
    • cooked pie crust or graham cracker crust
    • Meringue ingredients:
    • 3 egg whites
    • 6 Tbsp. sugar


    Instructions


    1. In large saucepan, mix together sugar, flour, cocoa, and salt.
    2. Add milk and egg yolks.
    3. Cook over low heat until thick.
    4. Remove from heat and add 1 tsp. vanilla and stir.
    5. Pour into cooked pie crust (or graham cracker crust) and top with whipped topping or meringue.
    6. For meringue, beat 3 egg whites until almost firm.
    7. Add 6 Tbsp. sugar and continue beating until firm.
    8. Bake at 325 degrees until golden brown.


    Final Comments


    You can also substitute 1 can crushed pineapple, 1 can coconut, or 3 sliced bananas for chocolate.
