Chocolate Pie

List of Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 5 heaping Tbsp. flour
- 3 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
- pinch salt
- 3 cups milk
- 3 egg yolks, well beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- cooked pie crust or graham cracker crust
- Meringue ingredients:
- 3 egg whites
- 6 Tbsp. sugar
Instructions
- In large saucepan, mix together sugar, flour, cocoa, and salt.
- Add milk and egg yolks.
- Cook over low heat until thick.
- Remove from heat and add 1 tsp. vanilla and stir.
- Pour into cooked pie crust (or graham cracker crust) and top with whipped topping or meringue.
- For meringue, beat 3 egg whites until almost firm.
- Add 6 Tbsp. sugar and continue beating until firm.
- Bake at 325 degrees until golden brown.
Final Comments
You can also substitute 1 can crushed pineapple, 1 can coconut, or 3 sliced bananas for chocolate.
