    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup plus 2 Tbsp. flour
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 2-3 Tbsp. ice water


    Instructions


    1. Combine flour and salt.

    2. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.

    3. Sprinkle ice water (1 Tbsp. at a time) evenly over surface.

    4. Stir with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened.

    5. Shape into a ball.

    6. Chill.

    7. Roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.

    8. Place in pie plate.

    9. Trim off excess pastry along the edges.

    10. Fold edges under and flute.



    Final Comments


    Yield: pastry for one 9 inch pie
