- chicken
- 2 1/2 cup flour
- 3 Tbs. shortening
- water
Instructions
- Boil chicken with bone in. Remove bone and save chicken broth.
- Put broth in a pan (at least 2 quarts). Put in salt, pepper, and some butter.
- Bring to a fast boil (you will drop dumplings into this).
- Mix flour and shortening (chop in) in a bowl.
- Add water. Stir until flour mixture is workable.
- Let set a few minutes.
- Roll out until about 1/8 inch in thickness.
- Cut into strips and drop into boiling broth.
- Stir gently.
- Cook about 15 minutes.
- It's better if it cools a few minutes before serving.
