    List of Ingredients


    • 3 egg whites
    • 1/4 tsp. salt
    • 1 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 1/2 tsp. vinegar
    • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    • ice cream
    • 1 pt. sweetened strawberries


    Instructions


    1. Beat egg whites until frothy.
    2. Add salt and continue to beat until mixture will stand in soft peaks.
    3. Add sugar (one tablespoon at a time), alternately with vinegar.
    4. Beat thoroughly after each addition.
    5. Continue to beat until stiff and dry.
    6. Add vanilla and blend.
    7. Pile meringue in six or eight mounds on lightly greased cooking sheet.
    8. Make an indentation in the top of each mound with rounded side of a large spoon.
    9. Bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour or until meringues are crisp but not brown.
    10. Remove from baking sheet and cool.
    11. Meringues should be soft inside.
    12. Pile ice cream in middle of cooled meringue and top with strawberries.
