List of Ingredients
- 3 egg whites
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- ice cream
- 1 pt. sweetened strawberries
Instructions
- Beat egg whites until frothy.
- Add salt and continue to beat until mixture will stand in soft peaks.
- Add sugar (one tablespoon at a time), alternately with vinegar.
- Beat thoroughly after each addition.
- Continue to beat until stiff and dry.
- Add vanilla and blend.
- Pile meringue in six or eight mounds on lightly greased cooking sheet.
- Make an indentation in the top of each mound with rounded side of a large spoon.
- Bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour or until meringues are crisp but not brown.
- Remove from baking sheet and cool.
- Meringues should be soft inside.
- Pile ice cream in middle of cooled meringue and top with strawberries.
