Hearty Potato Ham Chowder

List of Ingredients
- 4 potatoes
- 2 Tbs. butter
- 1/4 cup onions, chopped
- 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
- 2 cups water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. paprika
- 3 Tbs. flour
- 1/3 cup cold water
- 2 cups milk
- 12 oz. can corn
- 2 cups diced ham
Instructions
- Peel and dice potatoes.
- Melt butter in large saucepan.
- Add onion and green pepper, and cook until tender (but not brown).
- Add potatoes, 2 cups water, and seasonings.
- Cover and simmer until potatoes are tender.
- Make paste of flour and 1/3 cup cold water.
- Blend into potato mixture.
- Add milk and cook, stirring until slightly thickened.
- Stir in corn and ham. Heat through.
- You can sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top after serving if desired.
Final Comments
Makes 6 servings. This is good with corn bread.
