Recipe Introduction
I always make this stuffing for Thanksgiving. I make it in the morning and put it in a foil packet. Then while the turkey is sitting for a half-hour before carving, I put the packet in the oven at 350 deg. to re-heat.
List of Ingredients
- 1 C. thinly sliced celery
- 1/8 C. chopped onion
- 1/2 C. sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 C. butter
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 3/4 tsp. rosemary
- 5 C. dry bread cubes
- 1 C. boiling water
Instructions
- Saute vegetables in butter.
- Stir in seasonings and bread cubes.
- Pour boiling water over all, toss with fork to combine.
- Turn off heat and cover. Let stand 5 minutes. Toss again.
Final Comments
I also make the mashed potatoes ahead of time and put them in a foil packet to heat with the stuffing. This way the pots & pans are already clean and put away.
