List of Ingredients
- 3 C. flour
- 3/4 C. sugar
- 2 T. Baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 C. prepared mashed potatoes
- 3 T. margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 C. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
- Mix dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
- Cut in potatoes and margarine with a pastry blender.
- Combine eggs, milk and vanilla. Add to bowl and mix well.
- Roll out on floured board and cut into diamond shapes. Make a small slit in the center and pull one of the long ends through.
- Deep-fry in hot oil as for regular donuts.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar as they come out of the deep-fryer.
Final Comments
These don't HAVE to be bowtie shapes but it is a great way to make them if you don't have a donut cutter (and they remind me of my childhood made this way).
