    Hrutka (Easter Cheese)

    List of Ingredients


    • 6 eggs
    • 4 C. milk
    • 2 tsp. orange, lemon, or vanilla extract
    • 1/4 C. sugar


    Instructions


    1. Pour milk into sauce pan.

    2. Break eggs into milk, making sure each egg yolk is broken.

    3. Add orange extract and sugar.

    4. Mix well (can blend in blender instead).

    5. Cook slowly, stirring frequently so the bottom doesn't scorch.

    6. Cook until mixture resembles scrambled eggs.

    7. Put a piece of cheese cloth over a large bowl. Pour in mixture.

    8. Gather up the sides of the cheese cloth and tie tightly to form a ball.

    9. Let drain for about one hour.

    10. Remove from bag and cool.



    Final Comments


    To drain,we always tied the other end of the string to a cabinet door knob and let it hang over the bowl.
