    1 loaf French/Italian bread (without seeds) or cinnamon bread, sliced 1" thick
    8 eggs
    3 c. milk
    4 t. sugar
    1/2 t. salt
    2 T.vanilla
    2 T. butter
    1/2 c. nuts, optional

    Recipe



    Grease 12x9 pan. Arrange bread in one layer. Beat eggs with milk, sugar, salt and vanilla. Pour over bread. sprinkle nuts and cinnamon on top, if desired. cover and refrigerate at least 4-6 hrs. or overnight. (milk mixture needs to be almost absorbed) To bake, dot with 2 T. butter and nuts. Bake at 350 uncovered for 45-50 min. until puffy and lightly browned. Serve with butter and syrup.
