    Only Lost X pounds

Why is it that whenever we have a "small" loss, we say we "only" lost X amount. Any loss is a loss. Why aren't we content with that.

Let me ask you a question. If you gained the same amount that you "only" lost, would you still say that you "only" gained that amount? Probably not. Instead, we'd probably be thinking that it's the biggest setback ever.

So why do we think of "only" losing 0.8 or 1 pound or whatever as insignificant when we think of gaining 0.8 or 1 pound or whatever as a HUGE thing? It's still the same amount, but just in a different direction.

The moral of the story - accept your weigh ins as what they are - just a number on the scale. And remember that every weigh in is not going to be a 6 pound loss. That's the rare exception.

Pay attention to the other victories as well: body measurements, clothing fitting better, exercising more, health benefits (i.e. not having to take meds), compliments from those around us, etc.

There is so much more to this program than just your weekly weigh in. Once everyone starts to realize that and take the weigh in as it is, you will be so much more successful.
