    Homemade Bread/Buns

    This is the recipe to make bread, sub rolls, hamburger and hotdog buns.


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 tbs active dry yeast
    • 2 tbs sugar
    • 1/2 cup warm water
    • 2 cups warm milk
    • 2 tbs vegetable oil
    • 2 tsp salt
    • 6 cups all purpose flour


    Instructions


    1. In a large bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in the warm water and let sit for a bit. Add the milk, oil and 3 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Beat with mixer with dough hook for about 2 minutes.
    2. Gradually add flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl should be about 6 or more cups. This is when you add salt.
    3. Turn dough out onton a floured work surface. Knead until you have a smooth, elastic dough.
    4. Put dough into a lightly greased bowl. Turn to coat entire ball of dough. Cover with plastic wrap or dampened woven towel and let rise about 1 hour.
    5. Turn dough out onto a lightly oiled work surface. Shape into what you want to make and put on baking sheet and cover with towel to rise until doubled.
    6. Preheat oven to 350 and just before baking brush the top with egg wash of 1 egg white and 1 tbs water. Sprinkle with whatever seeds strike your fancy.
    7. Bake 15-18 minutes or until it sounds hollow when you thump it.
