    Recipe Introduction

    You can incorporate different ingredients in this basic recipe to make your favorite flavor hummus you purchase in the store. This makes about 1 1/2 cups.

    List of Ingredients

    1 - 15 1/2 ounce can chickpeas, rinsed and drained, or 1 1/2
    cups cooked dry - packaged chick peas (garbanzo beans)
    2 tablespoons lemon juice
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    2 teaspoons minced garlic
    1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
    Salt and pepper to taste

    Recipe

    Coarsley mash chickpeas. Mix in lemon juice, oil, garlic and oregano; season to tast with salt and pepper. You can also use a blender or a food processor to make the hummus more smooth.

    Hummus is best if made ahead and refrigerated overnight. Taste and adjust seasonings.
