    I have not added amounts to this recipe. Your seasonings and amounts of ingredients will depend on your tastes. This soup is delightful and easy to throw together. It can be easily made for one as well as 10 individuals.

    List of Ingredients




    White onion, chopped
    Thyme leaves, fresh, chopped
    Pinch of salt and pepper
    Beef consume
    Gruyere cheese
    French bread, sliced into 1" slices

    Recipe



    Saute onions with thyme leaves, salt and pepper about 8 to 10 minutes until browned (this is important for the flavor).

    Add consume and simmer for 5 minutes. Red wine may be added for flavor.

    Place slice of bread in bottom bowl, add soup mixture and top with cheese.

    Bake in 400 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until cheese begins to brown.
